Formula
- estimate hours/week = estimates per week × average minutes per estimate ÷ 60
- current admin hours/week = estimate hours/week + scheduling/admin hours + job-cost/admin hours
- hours/year = current admin hours/week × 52
- annual labor value = hours/year × hourly value (only when an hourly value is supplied)
Assumptions
- 52 working weeks per year — vacations and slow seasons are not netted out.
- Minutes per estimate covers the whole estimating task, from takeoff to a sendable proposal.
- The hourly value is whatever you decide owner/admin time is worth — the tool never invents one.

Methodology
This tool is pure addition over numbers you report. Estimate time converts to hours (estimates per week times average minutes each, divided by 60), then adds your scheduling/admin and job-cost/admin hours for a current weekly total. Multiplying by 52 gives the annual figure. The dollar figure appears only when you supply an hourly value — the tool never assumes what your time is worth. It deliberately contains no production-rate, crew-size, or field-labor math; it measures office time, and it makes no claim about what any software would do to these numbers.
Worked example: 5 estimates/week at 60 min each, 3 scheduling hrs, 2 job-cost hrs
- Estimate time = 5 × 60 ÷ 60 = 5 hrs/week
- Current admin = 5 + 3 + 2 = 10 hrs/week
- Per year = 10 × 52 = 520 hrs/year
- Optional value at $75/hr = 520 × 75 = $39,000/year

Where do I get an honest minutes-per-estimate number?
Time yourself on the next few estimates, from opening the plans or scope notes to a sendable proposal — including the takeoff, pricing lookups, and revisions. Most contractors underestimate because they only count the writing, not the measuring.
Why is the hourly value optional?
Because only you know what an hour of owner or office time is worth to your business. Leave it at zero and the tool reports hours only — it will not invent a dollar figure for you.
